Mr. Sok Kha

Biography

SOK Kha is a development consultant and researcher based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. As a consultant, he has over 8 years of a solid, successful, and hands-on experience leading and managing a broad range of research and government support projects in Cambodia. He has worked in a range of roles encompassing Regional Cooperation Specialist, Economic/Policy Researcher, Trade Policy and Trade Facilitation Consultant, Business Process Analyst, Management Information Systems Consultant, Capacity Building Specialist, Project Senior Analyst and Project Manager. He is concurrently a trade facilitation advisor for ASEAN–EU project ARISE Plus (Cambodia). As a researcher, SOK Kha serves as a fellow at the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), a research think tank based in Phnom Penh, where he writes research articles for the in-house publications. He is also a Visiting Fellow at China Institute of International Studies (Beijing: Oct-Nov, 2019). His research concentrates on trade policy, trade facilitation, and Regional Cooperation Mechanism in the Mekong Subregion and Southeast Asia. His recent publications include articles about China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on The Diplomat and East Asia Forum, as well as a forthcoming chapter on Cambodia’s engagement in global value chains in a book titled ‘Cambodia 2040: New Trajectories, Diverse Options’, published by the Future Forum, another Phnom Penh-based think tank. SOK Kha has an academic background in economics, having received his Master Degree and Certificate of Completion of Doctoral Program in Economic, from Kyoto University, Japan.
